An extension of an earlier book on the German-based architecture office, published by AA Publications, this volume continues to explore the language of inventories and atlases – drawing from the likes of Gerhard Richter’s Atlas to types of utility, such as indexes. Presented almost as a bound lecture, Bricoleur Bricolage combines key words, short theses, new illustrations and drawings to critically reflect on the role of materiality. Mindful of Barkow Leibinger’s own inventory of fabrication techniques, our design looks toward the making of the book itself. Along with explorations in binding and scale, colour separations were made with a coarse halftone screen in order to expose the materiality of the images, which otherwise goes unseen.
